Eric Braeden - From Bredenbek to Hollywood: The Legacy of 1848, Through Today

Eric Braeden, a Hollywood star from Bredenbek, and historian Yogi Reppmann from Flensburg (both towns are located in the northernmost German State of Schleswig-Holstein); their friendship goes back to 1989: here, in 2014, after a tennis match in Flensburg, on the border with Denmark. Both are fascinated by the timeless concepts, ideas and values of a democratic revolution, The Legacy of 1848, Through Today.

The question that confronts us today is the same as in 1931-32: Do our leaders have the capacity to reach beyond their grasp, to challenge us to seek the higher angels of nature, to choose "Be informed! Be informed!" rather than "Be afraid! Be afraid!" In the end, however, we know that world peace is too important to be left in the hands of our leaders.
